This is more of a post for me to throw out some interesting things I’ve come across and would like to keep track of (and am too lazy to find another place). (Fair warning – a lot of links involving Bruce Schneier)

- When copyright goes bad – a short video about the state and future direction of copyright.
- SPDY – a proposal from google for a web protocol to supplement or replace HTTP – All in all, it is an interesting idea but I have some concerns about the proposal to have the server “push” things to the client
- The Economics of Terrorism – props to Bruce Schneier for bringing this up – it is a video about the economics behind terrorism from the point of view of the Italian Red Brigades
- Anonymity and the Internet – a good perspective
- Security and Function Creep – not a surprise but still a good reminder for the developers (and software managers) out there
- Terrorist Derangement Syndrome – cute (and scary)
- Mark Twain got it right! – Refused to be terrorized people!
- Open Source Cryptography Textbook – It looks interesting, but nowhere near complete at this point
- Why DRM Doesn’t Work
- Side-Channel Attacks on SSL-Encrypted Web Traffic – Neat paper with commentary by Bruce Schneier
- Identifying People by Their Bacteria – very cool
- Privacy & Control – care of Bruce Schneier
- Bruce Schneier on Privacy & The Generation Gap (video)
- Man-in-the-Middle Attacks on SSL – Not sure how much it is worth worrying about but it is still a consideration when you have to have secure communications
- Terrorist Attacks and Comparable Risk Part 1
- Terrorist Attacks and Comparable Risk Part 2
- Externalities and Identity Theft – otherwise known as why the banks should be on the hook for identity theft, not the victim
- Guns painted to look like toys – clever, but very scary
- Punishing Security Breaches – a good article for how to prevent and deal with breaches of security
- What goes around comes around – CRIA faces $60 Billion lawsuit
- 21 Reasons Canadian Copyright Law Is Stronger Than the US – so why are we rushing headlong into further anti-consumer changes?
